If you have ever
been an expert on anything that you have seen depicted in
any media: television, a newspaper or magazine article or in
the cinema, you have probably had the experience of being
let down. Many of us know that feeling or know those
unavoidable questions; " Did the technical advisors, not
know their subject or did the creative minds not heed their
advice in favor of poetic license?". We don't want to
squelch creative juices but we have strong suspicions that
many of the technical advisors employed to support the
depiction or explanation of SCUBA (both recreational and
technical ), are stronger in credentials than they are in
skills.
Particularly with
regard to portraying expert divers. How a, truly expert
,diver should look can not be taught off a script and an
advisor who lacks talent can not demonstrate it to
others. We know about diving. We know the hazards, the
equipment, the politics but mostly we understand about
Buoyancy Control
and what a really good diver should look like. We can
demonstrate those qualities. The sorry truth, about diving,
is that most of its' practitioners , not only don't possess
adequate Buoyancy Skills, they don't seek to
improve them.
If you need advice
about mixed gas diving, commercial or deep technical diving,
we will happily refer you to our betters. Ironically, our
afore mentioned betters, are often lacking the foundation
skills that we promote. If on the other hand, you have an
interest in what a SCUBA diver should or could look like
,when representing an expert, we can help.
Sometimes our advice is free:
Proper
weighting and distribution of weight ere not enough.
Neither is proper breathing. If you really want success,
you must subtract , completely, the use of hands while diving.
Did we just give away the
farm ?
Probably not because
most readers have already dismissed us anyway. The rest of
you, the ones who have read to this point , will have among
you a few who will question whether or not we can live up to
your expectations. Are we just empty wetsuits , like too
many others? We believe that good buoyancy skills are the
key to unlocking the magic in diving and learning to NOT use
the hands is the key that unlocks great buoyancy. Check us
out!
We do not claim to be
“the last word” on all things diving, but we can offer sound
counsel on most matters and our views on buoyancy issues are
second to none.
