TRAVEL MEXICO:…a workshop in paradise:

Even the most conscientious training program, never seems to have enough time to devote to gaining experience through mentoring. That is why we feel that our Dive Travel Adventures are the most significant item in our toolbox.

Experience:

Since 1987 we have gone to Mexico more than 40 times, including 5 weeks spent in Merida, Yucatan living with a Mexican family and studying Spanish*. Our instructor training (both of us) was in Mexico. John’s cave training was in Riviera Maya. We have colleagues with whom we do business, in both recreational ocean diving and technical cave diving. John is “full cave” certified. We know our way around pretty well and not just around Cozumel. We have also been to: Xcalak & Mahahual and dived Banco Chinchorro. We know Holbox and have snorkeled there with whale sharks and manta rays. We know about Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Riviera Maya, Tulum, Valladolid, Izamal, Tixkokob, Progreso, and Merida. To offer travel to other destinations, when we do such a good job in this part of Mexico, does not make sense to us, so we try to concentrate our efforts where we can do, not only better than others, but more importantly, where we can do our best.

*While John would never claim that he is fluent in Spanish, his ability is at the upper end of “get by” and he speaks some Yucatec Maya

Whether you have traveled to the tropics to dive before or are looking forward to your first dive trip, there is something to be gained from the type of mentoring that we promise.

We can advise you on what and what not to bring with you, if this is your first time, and provide you with the experience that will make your 2^nd dive trip a positive.

Most dive instructors and dive guides have no personal interest in much more than your enjoyment and your safety. While these are no small matters, sharing the skills that set them apart or above, is not thought to be in their best interest. We seek to do exactly that without any concern for ego. We consider your success to be a compliment to us.

We can certainly offer you a good time and more! We use an operator who will provide an opportunity for you to dive to your potential; no 30 or 45 minute bottom times if you are capable of more. We will observe the depth limits of recreational diving but are not limited to dives of short duration. 85 and even 90 minute dive times are not unheard of and 70+ minutes are common with our groups…using 80 cubic foot aluminum tanks.

What is different is; we want you to come looking for something more. We want to offer the trip as a “FUN” buoyancy workshop that will teach you how to get the maximum from our offer (above) of longer bottom times. We can show you how to achieve better times through better fundamental skills. Buoyancy is what we know better than most. We can show you how to be a better diver than you ever thought you could be. We are not afraid to invite you to take us up on that promise. Travel with us if you want more than just a good time and you will discover that we are not the empty wetsuits that have become so common. When it comes to Buoyancy Skills and alternative propulsion techniques, particularly, Frog Kick we can “walk the walk”.

Our trips have this special bonus; they offer an introduction to very advanced buoyancy skills and provide new divers with a supervised dive travel experience.
